$1.2m of new orders from Christchurch bus network expansions

March 2004

New plans to expand and change the Christchurch City bus system have meant that Connexionz will see $1.2m in additional orders in 2004.

The order total is similar in size to the Liverpool-Parramatta Transitway project delivered for Sydney in 2003. The $1.2m project will require Connexionz to implement several new exciting features to the Christchurch Real Time Passenger Information (RTPI) system. In February 2004, Environment Canterbury (ECAN) announced plans to revise the bus routes to better match the location of new subdivisions in Christchurch. The new routes will require over 40 additional buses and will effect up to 100 routes which represents over half the system. The changes are expected to be implemented in June 2004.

Auckland Airbus boosts profits with Connexionz RTPI system

Since investing in the Connexionz real time information system, Airbus has increased its patronage by 15% over a six month period - an improvement made over and above an underlying visitor growth of 6%. From a service hindered by daily schedule uncertainties, Airbus has enhanced its service reputation and dependability.

New features for Christchurch RTPI System

Several new features will be implemented for the Christchurch Real Time Passenger Information (RTPI) System. The new features include:

Driver duress alarms will allow drivers to immediately alert emergency services and obtain a GPS location of the bus.

Website access for real-time bus arrival time information

Local positioning system upgrades will improve positioning accuracy within the Xchange building.

Variable Message Signs: These signs are based on plasma flat panel display technology (see picture right). They provide a lot more flexibility for displaying arrival information than that currently provided by traditional LED displays.

Electronic Ticketing Machine (ETM) support allows Connexionz's RTPI system to be tied into the new ETM system. Once tied, new distance based fares can be offered

BusFinderTM survives head-on crash

Recently an out-of-control vehicle careered into a bus stop demolishing the bus shelter and smashing into one of Connexionz's BusFinderTM touchscreen displays. The bus shelter was written off but the display continued operating without any external scratches.

Liverpool- Parramatta Transitway project receives final sign-off

Alstom notified Connexionz that it had received sign off for its work on the real-time passenger information system supplied to the New South Wales Road Transport Authority (NSW RTA). "Congratulations on a job well done" wrote Nguyen Le of the NSW RTA.

NZAX listing

Connexionz intends to list on the NZX's Alternative Market, the NZAX. Until then, Connexionz's shares will continue to trade on the current Unlisted Securities Market.
