| Connexionz wins first US sale 10th December 2004 Real-time bus passenger information provider Connexionz Limited has achieved its first systems sale to a bus system operator in the United States. Managing Director Robert Burke said the company has signed a contract with Arlington County in Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C. The County operates Arlington Transit (ART), a public bus service, with 30 buses on 11 routes. "Connexionz has initially supplied its BusFinderTM system on two of ART's routes. It is hoped that after an evaluation period, the system will be expanded to all of ART's buses and the rest of the eleven routes," said Mr Burke. Connexionz' technology and hardware system BusFinderTM provides real time information about bus arrival times at bus stops, in bus terminals and to cell phone and website users.BusFinderTM already operates with Christchurch, Auckland and Sydney bus systems. Although the initial contract was a relatively small $NZ100,000 the Arlington sale was a significant breakthrough for Connexionz, said Mr Burke. "We have been targeting innovative Transit Operators like ART that have a quality focus.Connexionz saw a US reference site as the key to expansion in the United States from New Zealand." "Arlington is a high-profile reference site that will help to promote and publicise BusFinderTM in the United States," said Mr Burke. Connexionz (CNX) is newly listed on the NZAX and has 370 shareholders. Its shares last traded at 46 cents. |
