Connexionz (NZAX:CNX) announced today (31 August 2007) that the University of Virginia has signed an agreement to purchase a real time passenger information (RTPI) system for USD 450,000.
The new GPS-based system will enable passengers to know, in real time, when their buses will arrive to pick them up at every stop serviced by the University’s fleet.
"Connexionz’s system drew good recommendations from our colleagues at the University of Maryland and from the folks in Arlington," said Rebecca White, the University’s Transit Manager.
"Their system has a reputation for reliability and accuracy which will take away a lot of the uncertainty around catching a bus."
Real time information will be available through roadside BusFinder touchscreen displays, Cellphones, the Internet and automated dial-in telephone systems.
"Our decision to focus our marketing on the US was the right thing," said Connexionz’s Chairman, Craig Boyce.
